The Modular Deployment/Tracker Nosecone Bay Kit is a complete set of SMT Designs parts that can be assembled into a fully functional module for the supported devices and batteries listed (customer supplies devices and batteries).
The nosecone end cap consists of an arming switch, a platform bracket, and optional hardware for a harness attachment using kevlar cord or forged eyebolts. For deployment only bays, a single pole double pole switch is supplied. For deployment and tracking, a double pole-double throw switch is supplied to power each device independently.
The bay supports altimeters and trackers made by MissileWorks, EggTimer, FeatherWeight, PerfectFLite and AltusMetrum. The bay supports single or dual deployment setups with one charge canister and an added pair of connections for dual deploy when utilizing cable cutters, CO2, or other devices along with an optional tracker (platform lists will show which combinations are currently available for devices and batteries - call if you need something different and I will see if it can be done).
Mounting to the nosecone shoulder is accomplished by three 4-40 threaded inserts at 120 spacing around the perimeter of the nosecone end cap. A side accessible arming screw is used to power the devices on and off. Note: the 54mm through 75mm bays have physical space for only one switch - a SPDT or DPDT slide switch is supplied as needed. An optional flipped end cap version allows the mounting of the bay at the top of a coupler tube in a nosecone with mounting and arming screws needing to go through the nosecone wall.
The bay platforms come in three lengths, so that a bay can be made as short as possible given a specific set of devices. The bay length can be set Short, Medium or Long when ordering. Short does limit the devices that can be supported. Medium will support more devices and finally, long will support all devices. The platform length will set the battery holder types that can be supported.
What this all means is that the long platform supports everything and would allow upgrades later to any additional supported devices or batteries. The short and medium platforms don't support as many options for changing later.
